Destiny Is All I Need

Part: Two
Chapter: 21
Carmen’s Plot

Destiny paced the lobby’s floor waiting for Ashley to pick her up all she wanted to do was get some fresh air. Seeing Ashley again wasn’t bad either, it had been a few days since her last visit. Although she wasn’t alone, it was a pleasure just to see her face. That thought diminished when she saw Carmen walk through the door, disappointment displayed on her face. Destiny swiftly headed to the door, ready to leave.
“You don’t have to look so happy to see me” Carmen sarcastically stated.
“I appreciate you coming to get me I’m just ready to get out of here.”
“That’s cool because we already found you an apartment and I paid the rent for six months until you get on your feet.”
Thank you, I didn’t expect for you all to do all of that for me.’
“Destiny doesn’t know about the rent part but we did pick the apartment together, since she knows what you like.”
“Why wouldn’t you tell Ashley about the rent?
Carmen ignored Destiny’s question and told her to just relax, she had everything under control. She drove a short distance to the nearest Liquor store and parked the car, Destiny felt herself getting anxious as she sat in the passenger seat. This is one place that she didn’t need to be besides the drugs and alcohol were like semis twins. Destiny wondered what Carmen was up to since she already knew this wasn’t the right place for her .When she looked at Carmen she saw a mischievous smile spread across her face.  Carmen stepped out of the car and went into the store. Her cell phone was lying on the seat of the car. Destiny picked it up and dialed Ashley’s number.  Something didn’t feel right about this whole situation, she could feel it in the pit of her stomach. The phone rang several times before she heard Ashley’s sweet voice, telling her callers to leave a detailed message at the tone. By the time Carmen came back out Destiny had placed her cell phone back on the seat. Wishing Ashley would have picked up the phone Destiny didn’t know what else to do. This was her only means of transportation. Maneuvering out of the parking spot, Carmen drove them to Destiny’s new apartment. It was a small place in Stone Mountain but Destiny didn’t have any complaints. She had everything that she needed for now. All of the furniture was in place. In her small living room area she had a black leather section with the tables to match. The carpet was trimmed in black and gold with a huge tiger in the middle while the walls were decorated with different art paintings which complimented the rest of the furniture. There was a flat screen T.V that accompanied a stereo in an entertainment system. Destiny walked through the rest of the apartment in awe as she saw how everything was so nicely set up. It was only one bedroom but that was all she needed. Destiny thought that the bedroom would be her favorite spot. She had king sized bed that sat in the middle of the floor. This was what she longed for, to be in her own bed. Carmen watched her every move as she followed behind her as if it was her first time seeing it. Everything was perfect.
“Do you like your apartment?”
“Yes this shit is hot!!’
‘I’m happy to see that you like it, we took some time to set this all up for you and Ashley knew you would be surprised.”
Thank you I don’t know how I could ever repay the two of you for doing this for me”
“Oh don’t worry about that for now, we can talk about it later. Everything that you need is right here in this apartment, we even went shopping for you some clothes and shoes. We know how hard shit had gotten for you so we wanted to make sure you were straight. We bought everything that you need, all the down to your socks.”
Destiny nodded her head she was at a loss of words. She continued her journey around her new place as Carmen went into the kitchen to fix them some drinks. It was time to put her plan in motion. When Destiny made it back to the room Carmen was lying back on the bed wearing nothing but a pair of red and black thongs and a black lace bra. Destiny couldn’t help but to notice how well her breast sat up in the bra. But this wasn’t right, what the hell was going on?
“You should come and have a drink with me I know you have been under a lot of stress lately”
Carmen stared.
“No this isn’t cool Carmen, I’m supposed to be getting my life back on track and …and …well you know…Destiny’s words trailed off as she looked at Carmen sitting there looking good enough to eat. The drink she held in her hand didn’t help, Destiny could almost taste it just by looking at it. The glass was clear with liquid that appeared to be orange juice, but Destiny knew better. But that didn’t stop her from joining Carmen on the bed this was just what Carmen was hoping for. She never let Destiny’s glass get empty she just kept the drinks coming. By the fourth drink Destiny was feeling way too good. Carmen used this to her advantage as she slid closer to Destiny. Whispering softly in her in ear but Destiny couldn’t make out any of the words.
Chapter 9  One Is Good, But Two Is…  Destiny

Destiny had mixed feelings as she spent her day with Crystal. She felt so bad about not going to check on her in the hospital that she wanted to make it up, but not before she made sure Ashley was straight. After she got caught the first time, she knew stepping her game up was a must. She thought letting Crystal go would be easy, but, since receiving the call from Dr. O’ Conner, her mind had been filled with thoughts of her. Even when Ashley made love to her, Destiny would pretend she was Crystal. At night, while holding Ashley, she couldn’t fight the feelings of wanting Crystal. After realizing how her life had turned into a soap opera, Destiny continued playing the game two ways. She was not sure how to get out of this mess or if she wanted to. For now, she felt content where she was, and that was in Crystal’s arms. She didn’t want to leave, especially since she and Ashley weren’t on the best of terms because of the incident with Crystal, and that had made it easy for her to stay away for days at a time. It appeared that all of that hard work they’d been doing was pointless now. Destiny knew it was her fault, but what was the point of making an effort if it went unnoticed? She gave herself that much credit. Besides, she knew she wasn’t perfect, but she did have needs, too. Maybe, one day, it would work itself out, but, until then, Crystal would do. These thoughts were on her mind as she enjoyed her last night with Crystal. In the morning, she would be Ashley’s fiancĂ©e again, until another argument came along. Their last night was the best night, they went out to eat, had a few drinks, and made love until morning. They even made a stop at Starship to make sure their night was something to remember. Since Crystal was new to this, it was Destiny’s pleasure to show her the best toys. They both enjoyed experimenting with the different toys because it made their love making more exciting. At the end of the night, each of them were put to good use. Destiny knew she had taught Crystal some new shit, and, for her, that was a good thing.
The following morning, Destiny got up at six and took a shower. After she got dressed, she prepared to return home. She knew Ashley would be leaving for work by that time. For Destiny, this was all good. She didn’t want to argue that early in the morning.

Chapter 10
The Bigger Woman
Ashley

Today wasn’t a good day for Ashley to be at work. Her body and mind just weren’t up for it, so, as she walked out the door, she decided to make the best of it. Usually, she loved going to work, but, lately, all the sleepless nights had her down. She couldn’t concentrate, and her work had started to fall behind. Everybody at her workplace had noticed it but didn’t ask questions. They respected her and just gave her space.
After arriving twenty minutes late, Ashley drug along, hoping the day went by as quickly as it had come. She hated when she was in this type of mood because, usually, she was so happy. The first stop was the break room for a cup of coffee. After that, she went to her office and closed the door.
“Now, it’s time to get some work done,” Ashley stated out loud.
While going through the papers on her desk, Ashley found a note addressed to her that read:
Hello, Destiny
I know you think you have won this battle, but it is far from over. You see, I knew that I wanted Destiny from the first night I saw her, and we are going to be together. You have no idea how Destiny really feels about me. She won’t tell you that part. This is not over. We will see each other again!
Crystal
After reading the note, Ashley became confused because she thought Destiny had cut all her ties with Crystal. As the day progressed, those words played over and over in the back of her mind. She dialed Destiny’s number, but she never picked up. On the final ring, Ashley let it ring until the voicemail came on. Ashley left a nasty message:
“You and your bitch can have each other! I don’t have time to entertain this bullshit, I gave our relationship another chance, but, obviously, you are not ready for it.”
Ashley hung the phone up. She knew that she and Destiny had been going through it, but she had not thought it was that bad. She did everything in her power not to shed a tear as she put a note on her door and left for the rest of the day. She had refused let those tears fall because she was and always would be the BIGGER WOMAN!!!
Ashley rushed through the traffic and arrived home in fifteen minutes. There was still no car in the driveway or lights on in the apartment, so she knew Destiny wasn’t there. It was not like she had expected her to be. Hell! Destiny never came home anymore. Now, she understood exactly what was going on— the love of her life was still cheating on her. This was not a good feeling, especially when she had done nothing wrong. Ashley knew she didn’t deserve this and didn’t understand why Destiny had proposed to her. Once again, she sat, waiting for Destiny to return. The only difference was that, this time, she wasn’t going anywhere. She packed up Destiny’s clothes and sat them by the front door. There was nothing to talk about. She took off her engagement ring and sat it on top of everything. This was the first time she had ever taken it off, but she refused to be hurt again. Ashley clearly remembered the way Destiny had behaved at the awards ceremony. Her body was there, but her mind was in another place. They used to have so much fun together— dinners, movies, the whole nine. Lately, the only thing they did was avoid each other. Sometimes, they made love. Ashley wanted answers but didn’t want to argue anymore. She didn’t have the energy or the time. If it was over, then let it be. She had given her all, now there was nothing else to give.

HERE'S ANOTHER ONE!!

Shelia remained focused, even after that first incident with Jewels. She noticed that Jewels’ attitude had changed and that she was getting thick. At that point, she didn’t have time to pay it too much attention because Shelia had to continue to work and maintain their house-hold. Things were hectic for her. Although her boyfriend helped sometimes, Shelia picked up a second job to make ends meet. She didn’t want to depend on any man to take care of her.

Miles called her one day after she got off work to see if she wanted to go out to dinner. She agreed, so he picked her up around 6:30 P.M., but, just before they got ready to go, Shelia realized she hadn’t seen Jewels all day. She had bought her a cell phone, which she used to call Jewels several times, but Jewels never answered.

Shelia wanted to just enjoy her evening, so Shelia left with Miles. It was nice, but Miles wasn’t a very romantic man, so they weren’t out long. When they returned to Shelia’s apartment, Shelia spotted Jewels coming out of the house with a man behind her.

At the sight of her mother, Jewels’ eyes grew to the size of saucers. She pushed Terry back into the house, trying her best to hide him, but it was too late. Shelia flew up the stairs, headed straight for the both of them.

“Who the fuck is this grown-ass man you got up in my house?”

“He’s my friend, Mama!”

Shelia turned to Terry with angry eyes.

“So, you’re fucking my daughter? I’m going to have your ass arrested for statutory rape. She is too young for you!”

“I really like your daughter, ma’am, and she is old enough. I’m only twenty-two years old.”

“Twenty-two”! Jewels is fourteen. Her birthday just passed in March!”
Jewels and Terry stood there, dumbfounded. Then, Terry walked out the door. Jewels looked at her mother, who had tears in her eyes. She knew she was hurting Shelia, breaking her heart. Shelia walked to Jewels’ room. The smell of sex was all in the air. The covers on the bed were thrown everywhere. The fan was blowing, making the scent even stronger. Shelia looked at Jewels. Pain was evident on her face. That night, Shelia knew she had to take action by putting Jewels on some kind of birth control. She was not ready for her baby to have a baby.

No matter how hard she tried, Shelia couldn’t reach her daughter the way she needed to. It seemed as if Jewels was getting worse. The things she did and said just weren’t right. Shelia could remember one day in particular when Jewels did not come home right after school. By the time Shelia got home, Jewels should have been somewhere around their apartments. As the day went by, there was no sign of Jewels. Shelia called everybody she could think of. Nobody knew where Jewels was and they hadn’t talked to her. Shelia was so worried. It was almost eleven P.M. when Jewels walked into the house. Shelia was livid! Jewels walked in without a car
e in the world, went straight to her room, and closed the door behind her. Shelia was right on her heels, but the door slammed in her face. After smelling the strong aroma of weed and alcohol, she realized that Jewels was high. Shelia turned the knob and opened the door.
“Where have you been all day, Jewels?”
Jewels wouldn’t even look at her mother. She held her head down while she talked.
“I was at my friend’s house,” Jewels lied.
“What fucking friend? Because I called Rhonda and Mesha, and neither one of them talked to you today.”
“I wasn’t with them. I was with my other friends. You don’t know them,” Jewels said, rolling her eyes and smacking her lips.
Now, Shelia didn’t play that shit. If you wanted to be grown or act like it, then you would be treated like it. Shelia was a short lady; she stood about 5’2”, had dark skin and short hair. She was very beautiful, but she didn’t take any shit from nobody. Before Jewels knew what had happened to her, she was holding the left side of her face where Shelia had slapped her.
“First of all, you are thirteen years old! You will not be coming in and out of my fucking house like you pay bills up in here! I want your ass in here when the street lights come on and no later. Do you hear me?”
“Yeah.”
It was on again. Shelia grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and pulled her off the bed

Excerpt-Let God Forgive Him

Touched

I was touched at a young age.
I still don’t know how I can live with this pain,
But I still love this man.
I suffered through the most precious years of my life.
Trying to find my way and do what was right,
But all I could see was the pain inside.
Holding in tears that damaged pride,
Crying day in and day out as the world passed me by.
No one knew of all this pain and hurt I had inside
As I did things out of anger or just because I thought I could.
I even did shit ‘cause I thought it would make me feel good.
I didn’t have the guidance I needed to make it through another day,
Didn’t even have the courage to pray and say what my heart really wanted to say.
So, here I am, still lost and trying to find my way,
But, through it all, I must stand.
Never again will I be touched by another man.
